Abstract:In order to investigate the functions of water extract from Dendrobium officinale for decreasing blood lipid on the mice model with hyperlipidemia. Compared with the normal mice， the mice model with hyperlipi－ demia were divided into 5 groups designnated as hyperlipidemia model groups， water extract from Dendrobium officinale groups at low， middle and high dosages and simvastatin as positive control group. Treated by intragas－ tric administration for the determination of the weight of mice. Total cholesterol（TC）， triglyceride（TG）， high density lipoprotein（HDL-C）and low density lipoprotein（LDL-C） of serum was evaluated. The results showed that the water extract form Dendrobium officinale groups can effectively reduce hyperlipidemia mice total cholesterol （TC）and low density lipoprotein （LDL-C） of serum， improve the serum high density lipoprotein （HDL-C）of serum， reduce the ratio of low density lipoprotein cholesterol （LDL-C） / high density lipoprotein（HDL -C） effectively. Compared with the model group， simvastatin and Dendrobium officinale has adjuvant therapy on high blood glucose caused by hyperlipidemia.
