Abstract:With the increasing awareness of health among consumers，dietary supplements have become increasingly favored by consumers as one of the effective means to help maintain physical health. However，there is also a rising demand for suitable products to offer consumers an ideal experience. Orally disintegrating films（ODFs） were initially developed as a new formulation for swallowing difficulties in children and the elderly. In recent years，ODFs have gained popularity as a novel dosage form to carry active pharmaceutical ingredients，vitamins，and other dietary supplements. Therefore，this paper analyzes the development and production of ODFs both in China and other countries，focusing on basic concepts，production processes，and quality control.This paper aims to offer new insights for the development of ODFs for dietary supplements，while also point out new opportunities and challenges for the application of ODFs for dietary supplements in functional foods.
